It should be able to play most MKV files, but was only able to play one of thirty that I have! Why bother even offering this?

When I try downloading movies from my NAS, it gets to about 98% and then crashes. Then it wont open until the iPhone is rebooted. Great for streaming, but for downloading go with Infuse. Needs: mkv support, functional downloading

This makes accessing my personal server vids look like Netflix! :) Love this app!

Thank you for making such a great app. I love the IMDB links, very convenient. Also think about a play queue option instead of having to create a collection.

Cant watch 90% of my movies because there isnt any dts support, so thats a one star app, but you can watch them on the vlc player (the second star) which does not have any chromecast support.

stable and fully functional. I use it as an Apple TV remote. Very satisfied.

I love the latest additions. But please please please stop asking me every single time I play a video file if I want subtitles. 99.9% of the time I dont so it is a real annoyance. Maybe move it to global settings or a switchable option somewhere? Thank you for a great app and the best NAS! Also, since I switched to iOS 9 I cant stream direct from the NAS to my AppleTV. :( I have to AirPlay it from my device...

This version seems to interfere with audio streaming to chromecast. I have the app installed on two phones. The older version streams with audio, the new version streams only video.

This app worked great with chrome cast since I have it. With the latest update, loading time for the video information got so much longer and sometimes streamed only video but no sound. Please fix it! It would been 5 stars if it has no such issues mentioned above.

Stopped streaming to Chromecast

I have a DS 410+, and use this app frequently to play video while away from my home network. Works great for me.

Love the app but since last update doesnt work right with Apple TV and air play. Please fix this.

This app is the cats meow, whatever that means. I also have the Roku and Samsung version of it, and all work well, but what I really want is a native app for the new Apple TV. That would rock and Im sure would result in Synology NAS sales. Please update this app to run on the Apple TV, please, oh please.

Smooth video player from DS to Chromecast.

Is it perfect? No. there are with out a doubt a few things they need to tweak to optimize it. and a good amount of different file types are not able to be downloaded for later playback when not connected which can be frustrating. All that said this App is awesome and i have had no issue with play back as long as i have a reasonable internet connection. I love my synology and i love being able to take my huge movie library and where i go. its a great app. If they make something similar for the new Apple TV so that i can play content natively from the apple tv instead of having to airplay, Sinology will have me as a customer for life.

First off Im a very loyal Synology fan, Ive had several over the years and currently have 2 DiskStations my primary unit is a DS1812+ and I personally dont think youll find a better more feature rich NAS Server than a Synology DiskStation! Having said that though the most recent update has broken my DS Video app. As soon as I enter the password it just quits. It does think on my iPhone 6s Plus, iPad Air, and now on my new iPad Pro. Ive been forced to use a 3rd party apps to remotely stream my videos in the meantime but much prefer the Synology DS Video app when its working. Hurry up and fix this app!

This app makes it super easy to find and stream movies to any tv in our house as well as actually on-device. Id love a queue feature for when watching TV shows so I could chain up a series of shoes to watch in succession.

Used to love this app but went to play an MKV file today and everything is all of a sudden "unsupported" and wont play on my iPhone iPad or through my Samsung smart TV which I have done many times before. Pretty frustrating since I loaded my entire movie collection into the Synology and now nothing plays

here lately the last few updates seem to be more and more buggy. videos just stop, or audio stops. this only happens on the iPhone/ipad devices. If i access from my roku or ATV seems to work without trouble. also more recent update i can no longer use the scrubber from the video screen but by the slider.
