Useful app for Synology NAS owners, but the most recent update removes the ability to fast-forward/rewind by swiping your finger across the app. This was a great feature introduced recently, and I assume a future update will restore it, but, jeez, come on people... Test this stuff, huh?

The ability to stop a video and resume where I left off is no longer working with Apple TV (4th gen).

This is getting old in the tooth and cumbersome to use, given that we could have an Apple TV version, like plex and others.

Love the DS Video app for iPad and iPhone. Please make one available for Apple TV!

DS File app sees files in Video share but this app does not

The app simply does not work. I cannot see my files, however, DS file shows those videos stored in video folder.

Overall app works well. Occasionally have issues playing movies in background on Apple TV. Quality looks good when streaming to TV.

I was so happy to see this app appear in the app store, but I was so disappointed in this initial version. The good news is that the video playback seems to be at least as good as on the iPad app. Now the bad news; there are three major problems: 1. Discovery – To connect to your DiskStation, you need to enter its IP address. On the Apple TV remote. The hostname doesn’t work; it needs to be the full IP address. Maybe this is OK on the Roku, but I doubt most Apple TV users even know what an IP address is. This needs to change to automatic discovery. 2. Authentication – To authenticate, you need to enter your DiskStation user name and password. Again, this is only the Apple TV remote. You need to type your precious password in slowly character by character on a big screen. Granted, a lot of Apple TV apps have this problem, but there needs to be a way to do this off screen. Maybe tie it into the phone app to authenticate. And in case anyone missed your password on the big screen, it looks like it sends your credentials unencrypted over the LAN. 3. Navigation – This is actually the biggest problem, and the reason I can’t use the current version of this app. The navigation basically relies solely on the artwork. If you don’t have artwork, there aren’t enough characters of the filename shown below to uniquely identify the file. Arrange the titles vertically, so we don’t cram in all these titles side-by-side horizontally.

Video goes black. Cant advance video either. Blah.

IsoneIs it so hard to add this feature? So annoying for short videos like 1min cartoons.

Overall, I like the new look but a have a HUGE problem with how they designed TV Shows. Now every season must be manually tapped to view all the episodes instead of showing them all at once in the prior version. This is on top of tapping into a show which leads to an "overview" and then having to tap into another section to get to episodes. Put Overview and Episodes on the same page and expand all the seasons by default!

Previously downloadable and playable m4v videos no longer download or play streamed on this version. Videos which were already downloaded via the previous version and are stored locally (iphone 6) will play but if deleted locally the same video will not download again or play using this version. This makes this version unusable for me since none of the videos in our library (all m4v) work with this app anymore.

This version lacks features and some videos dont even load. Also, there is no way to mark a video as watched or un-watched from the app. The Apple TV version is buggy, keeps asking for 2 step verification code. Back to Plex I suppose..

I use this everyday to watch things on the way to work on the train. Its a must have. The only con is that the subtitles havent worked consistently for me in prior versions or this version even when they work on ds file. Make bug with new version though is unable to mark watched manually.

Unless I need to restart my iPad to fix it, it seems as if this new version broke the ability to lock the iPad (turn off screen) once the AirPlay started being streamed to the apple tv(3rd gen). Before I could start it, and then lock the screen and the entire movie would play. Now, when the screen times out and/or locks, the AirPlay stream stops.

I havent noticed much of a change from old version. I think the app is great. Open video point it to streaming device (Apple tv) and disconnect once it starts playing. Way easier to explain to wife then Apple TV and home sharing what a mess that is.

Generally a good player. My 2 gripes are that the "x" to close out a playing video is small and Ill often try to press it 4-5 times before my finger finally presses the right spot. Similarly when I am deleting files from the player the "trash can" is also hard to press. Would love to see these easier to access

This app used to work great, but with the new version all files that used to play fine now get "failed to transcode" message. Nothing changed, same iPad, same DS, just the software upgrade caused a degradation. Very disappointed:(

Update needs work. DSM 5 with previous DS Video was flawless. Current version wont stay connected. Dozens of MP4 files show an error while attempting to play. The Apple TV app is just as bad. Technically Im not sure if its the apps or the new DSM software, but regardless, things are not working and its frustrating. Please fix or revert back to the previous version.

I love this app and use it daily but this update I bad. The app no longer bookmarks the last season and episode that I watched. It opens to season one each time even though Im on season five. The app doesnt mark the last episode I watched so I have to locate it myself by memory. I hope these bugs get fixed soon as it is such a letdown from the previous version.
